SCHUBERT
Franz Schubert Austrian Composer (1797-1828)
Schubert was originally trained as a schoolteacher at his family's request. After joining what today is known as the Vienna Boys Choir, his talents surfaced in such a way that Antonio Salleri offered to train him personally. With pressure from his family, Schubert became an educator at his father's school, until he broke away to become an independent tutor. During this time, Schubert wrote some of his best known music, including the three-act opera "Alfonso and Estrella." Schubert's greatness was cut short due to a disease that took his life at 31. In spite of this, he produced more masterpieces in his lifetime than almost any composer in history.
